The Lost Sierra Retreat Center ~ A Land of Re-Enchantment

After taking our own sabbatical year, University of Earth is pleased to be re-opening our Lost Sierra Retreat Center with a deeper alignment to University of Earth’s mission and vision. With a vision and mission of creating a world that works for us all, where the human community, the natural world and the divine worlds go forward as one sacred community, we invite you to bring your sacred work here.

"Enchantment is the oldest form of medicine."
~ Carl Jung

The Lost Sierra Retreat Center is nestled along the National Wild & Scenic Middle Fork of the Feather River in California’s Sierra Nevada Mountains. Located off of Scenic Highway 70 at the foot of a Sacred Mother Mountain Landscape, the retreat center serves as a crucible for personal and planetary transformation and healing. Come be re-enchanted!

Offer Your Retreat or Workshop Here

Creating a venue for others to offer their gifts to the world through retreats, workshops and "medicine music" concerts is a central purpose of University of Earth. For those whose vision and mission aligns with ours, we invite you to bring your gifts and dreams to this magical land.

Our Mission
Dedicated to helping create a world that works for all, both the human world and "more-than-human" worlds, University of Earth invites peoples of every faith, every ethnicity, every station in life, to join together and explore how we might go forward in this time of social and cultural transformation and transition.

Integration is key
Integration can be a challenge for workshop participants. It is our experience that indoor sessions are most easily integrated by spending time in nature afterward, as Nature is integrated and hence integrating. We encourage workshop and retreat leaders to schedule time for this important aspect by spending time outside while here in the Lost Sierra.  Participants are invited to reserve lodging or camping before or after events.

Nature Time
Delight in the stunning parade of stars, planets and the Milky Way as they dance across the mountain peaks from our Sacred Mother Mountain Amphitheater.

Sit in groups, in solitude, or relax in our hammocks along the beautiful “medicine river” that graces the land. Hike the many trails of our nature sanctuary, find a quiet sit spot and listen. Meet your relatives, the birds, the bees, the trees; the “Family of All Things.” Maybe the often-seen river otters, ospreys, eagles, deer and wild trout; perhaps even the secretive, pigmy owl, fox, bear, and bobcat who know this forest as their home.

The Facilities

University of Earth's campus and Retreat Center is located on 40 acres and surrounded on three sides by Plumas National Forest public lands.  The little known and magnificent Lakes Basin National Recreation Area and the historic Plumas Eureka State Park in the heart of the Sacred Mother Mountains are minutes away.

Two hot springs, the famous Sierra Hot Springs and Feather River Hot Springs are less than thirty minutes away.

Groceries and other supplies are near by in the charming town of Graeagle.

Meeting Spaces

The Retreat Center offers both indoor and outdoor meeting spaces. Our Mother Mountain Yurt has a capacity of up to fifty-five (55) in a conventional classroom set up and forty-two (42) in a council circle style.  Each cabin provides meeting space for smaller groups. Our new River View Yurt, which will be available late Spring 2024, will be located in the main lodging area which will provide a lovely space for yoga, meditation and workshops.

We offer multiple lovely outdoor settings including the Sacred Fire Circle adjacent to the Mother Mountain Yurt. Our campus Gathering Area with its campfire ring offers guests a place to mingle in the cabin area. The magical Riverside Ceremonial Circle offers a large meeting area for ceremonies, riverside yoga and easy access to dip in the healing waters of the "Medicine River." A number of other sitting areas, including Cottonwood Circle along the river offer more intimate intimate settings for "breakout groups." The Sacred Mother Mountain Amphitheater & Ceremonial Circle can seat up to 175 persons offering stunning views of the Triple Goddess Mountain Landscape.
